https://youtube.com/watch?v=dC4nLdRpIBA
Barton Gilley comes back home from work each week day and escapes into their own magical realm of creation. Through character design, production and construction of animatronic sculptures, Barton creates their own fantastical creatures which make movie magic happen. Within this unique talk, be transported into an animatronics sculptor’s mind because he showcases his favorite creations and discover how a person always has here we are at something love — and to become a little mischievous on how to learn how to get things done.
Barton Gilley understands how to get things moving. Literally. A 2008 graduate of Louisiana Condition University’s Fine Arts program, Barton applies his formal art training together with his desire for the playful by conceiving and creating animatronic sculptures. Barton’s interest in art is really a family theme his father Shelby Gilley founded the famous Gilley’s Gallery, which today continues Shelby’s legacy of advertising artists like Clementine Hunter along with other outsider and folk artists. However for Barton, art intersects effects by means of sculptures like the well known R2-DBrew seen at LSU tailgates and Mario Siblings Fire Lotus Flower featured at occasions for Baton Rouge’s Elevator Projects and Small Maker Faire, amongst others. Where one individual sees a couple of bits of scrap metal, Barton sees a personality and story that come to existence via a symphony of scavenging, sculpting and electronics.
